Individual, Couples & Family Therapy

I specialize in therapy for children as well as adults that have experienced trauma, abuse and on-going extreme stress. I incorporate self-compassion, play therapy and mindfulness techniques in my work with children. With adults, I incorporate aspects of Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Based Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, EMDR, the Safe and Sound Protocol, mindfulness and hypnotherapy techniques.

My goal is for you to achieve your own goals and feel that life is only getting better and better for you; that you are strong and can handle anything that comes your way no matter what:)

Couples & Family

With couples, I specialize in a therapeutic approach that focuses on secure attachment. I believe at looking at couples and relationships as systems and work to assist couples and families in creating the healthiest dynamic possible.
I take a personalized, boutique approach in all my therapy practice. My hope is for you to feel more positive about your life situation, relationship and/or family..to help you get out of harmful negative cycles you may be trapped in and to move forward for a positive future.

I offer 1-hour sessions, as well as mental health intensives. 'Intensives' are usually 2-3 hours in length and are very effective for getting at root issues quickly.
I try to work with everyone's differing needs and financial circumstances. I work on a sliding scale approach of $85-$175 an hour and also accept insurance through Alma and Advekit (for out-of-network clients). I take an individualized approach in all the work I do with therapy, including adapting the best financial fit.
I can be reached by email at sara.spowart@gmail.com or at 813-739-9168 for more questions. You can also submit inquiries through the "Contact" page of this website :)

Group Therapy Options

I offer Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mindful Self-Compassion and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy group trainings both in-person and remotely.

I was trained by the University of California, San Diego Medical School in Mindfulness-Based interventions. I also taught Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for 2 years at NYU Medical School remotely for individuals suffering from chronic disease and toxic stress.
Most recently, I have created a specialized program I named "Happiness-Based Mindfulness." This 6-week program offers specialized, practical trainings and tools to increase mindfulness, compassion and happiness in your everyday life. It is a culmination of everything I've learned over a lifetime of training, experience, education and clinical application.

Through my business, Happiness Learned LLC, I also offer abuse recovery group therapy with the support of other life coaches and mental health therapists.
